Hello!
I am Bella, a Senior Librarian in the Research and Data Services team at SMU Libraries. I help researchers adopt computational, reproducible, and responsible approaches to research, especially across data collection, analysis, publication, and research communication.
A lot of my work starts with a simple question: how can researchers use new tools well, without losing sight of rigour, openness, and care? I design and teach hands-on workshops in R, Python, Git, and reproducible research tools; evaluate how AI and LLM-based tools can support research workflows; and build programmes that connect researchers, research staff, and academic library communities.
I currently serve as Vice President of FORCE11, and recently co-chaired the organising committee for FORCE2026. I graduated from Nanyang Technological University in 2018 with an MSc in Information Studies.
Outside work, I volunteer as an instructor with The Carpentries and I’m rarely far from a detective novel.
Open to collaborating on: research-data training, workshops and guest teaching, conference sessions, and projects on AI-in-research or open scholarship. The fastest way to reach me is by email.
